Positive Outlook Essay

If a glass is filled halfway, is the glass half-full or half-empty? This is a commonly asked question to test a person's outlook. Although both choices are correct, each represents a different outlook. If they say it's half full then they are most likely a positive person. If they say it's half empty then they're most likely a negative person. Having a negative outlook on life can be pretty depressing. However, this is not permanent. It can be fixed. In order to have a positive attitude you must appreciate what you have. You can start out by cherishing nature, cherishing family, and cherishing knowledge.

The world is a beautiful place. You must learn to cherish it. Travelling and hiking are both great ways to appreciate nature. Mountainous landscapes formed by small rivers will amaze you. You don't have to go far to embrace nature. Every morning there is a beautiful sunrise right in your backyard. Chances are, if it in your backyard, it is everywhere. However, all this nature around you is taken for granted. You need to experience it. This becomes instilled in you and positively changes your perspective.

Charity begins at home. This is where you can get everything you want for free. You have to learn to appreciate your family at home. These are the only people that truly care about you. They give you a lot for almost nothing. You should be forgiving them for what they have not given you, and appreciate them for what they have given. If there is any way to pay your family back, it would be to express love to them. Doing small things like sharing a story, playing games, or watching movies together can make a huge difference.

When I sit on a plane, I am amazed with human accomplishment. I appreciate how wonderful it is for humans to have gotten so far as to flying 300 people. All of the accomplishments of mankind are something to be proud of. We read about injustice done to different communities, cultures, races and sexes. We read about problems in our society in news everyday. Despite all the humans have consistently made progress. There is no taking away from the fact that we are safer, more prosperous, healthier today than ever. I am proud of this achievement. I appreciate it with my whole heart. Appreciation as such makes one happy.

In conclusion, there's a very small difference in attitudes between looking at a glass half full or half empty. However, the work required to achieve a positive attitude requires one to cherish nature, their family, and knowledge. In my experience, people who see their glass half empty, their glass drains over a period of time. People who see their glass half full, their glass eventually fills up.
