Should we have a longer winter break?

      Did you get enough time during your winter break to do all your favorite activities? I certainly did not! I planned to do activities like play video games, hangout with my friends at the park, and to visit Great America. Unfortunately, majority of my time was spent with my family, thus I was unable to accomplish my plan. Neither were my friends able to do the same. Therefore, I believe, we should increase the amount of time in winter break.  I believe that we should have time for relaxing, having fun, and having thrill!   
                                                     
     School days are very harsh and stressful. Everyone is running around from class to class carrying a heavy backpack. When they come home they have to do hours worth of homework and studying. After all these stressful moments, we need to relax. I believe the best way to relax is by spending time with your family. I look forward to spending time with my cousin brothers, grandparents, uncles and aunts. Winter break is one of the best times a family can get together. With your family you can do whatever you want. You can play card games. You can watch a movie. You can jump up and down on the bed. You can have a friendly conversation. You could even sleep! Since your family members care about you they wont judge you. Therefore, you can do whatever, whenever! If you watch a movie, and you fall asleep, no one will mind. This is what makes family different from friends.

     We do not have enough time for fun during school day. Neither do we have enough time to play on the weekends since we have lots of class. Winter breaks are the best time to have fun. I am always impatient for my winter break to come! Fun to me would be doing things such as biking outside. Or chilling out with my friends at a party. Especially, playing video games with my friends is fun.

    We all need some thrill once in a while! I feel that theme parks are a great place to fulfill this desire. I can't go during weekends and weekdays since my parents are busy. So I always look forward to winter break. Thrill to me was when I went on a roller coaster ride at Great America. The roller coaster went up 50 feet high. In anticipation, my heart was pounding against my chest. Suddenly I was free falling. Then, the roller coaster came to a stop. I felt I was rescued. I was so glad that everything was over. This is what I called thrill.

 
     In conclusion, we need more time to relax, have fun, and have thrill. Therefore, the school should add more time to the winter break. They can compensate by taking a few days of the summer break.  So instead of having one huge break and one small break, we can have 2 fairly large breaks. With this change everyone will be happy.

   John A. Fisher is a concerned parent. He believes that garden education is vital to the future of children.  His article, "Growing the Kinder-Garden" argues that schools should teach garden education. In order to convince his audience, Fisher instills a feeling of guilt, appeals to logos, and uses collective pronouns.      First of all, Fisher instills a feeling of guilt into his audience. He talks about how children in today's society barely know about gardening. He provides a strong point stating that, "if you have a young child, ask him or her where food comes from. Don't be surprised if the answer you get is 'From the store!'" This shows that most children don't know where food truly comes from.      If a glass is filled halfway, is the glass half-full or half-empty? This is a commonly asked question to test a person's outlook. Although both choices are correct, each represents a different outlook. If they say it's half full then they are most likely a positive person.
