OUTLINE

Intro

     The argument is that should we add two extra weeks to school? There is an argument in favor and there is an argument against. I believe that the cost of adding two weeks outweigh the benefit of education on the students.

Body 

     First of all, many of the students and teachers are not getting enough time off. Whenever they get to school they are always stressful and tired. The teachers and students need a break. The students and teachers hardly get to spend time with their parents and friend. Adding two more weeks to school are just going to make things worse. There is only so much students can learn in a year. If the students have already learned everything, then what was the point of adding those two weeks?

     Secondly, this idea will cost the district a lot more money. They will have to pay the teacher, Janitor, principle, etc. They will also have to pay for electricity and water. All of this can add up to at least a thousand dollars just for two weeks. It is just not worth it, the cost for the district and the stress on the students outweighs the benefits of education on the students!

     Lastly, others may say that adding two extra weeks of school will add more time for the students to learn more. I agree with them that giving more time will allow students to learn more. However there is only so much students can learn in a school year. The time given is already enough. Also the cost of stress and financial cost outweigh the benefits of the extra time on children.

Conclusion

     All in all, adding two weeks extra can improve the education for children. But I believe that giving the students a bigger time off, and keeping the school prices low are more important than two weeks of extra education.

   John A. Fisher is a concerned parent. He believes that garden education is vital to the future of children.  His article, "Growing the Kinder-Garden" argues that schools should teach garden education. In order to convince his audience, Fisher instills a feeling of guilt, appeals to logos, and uses collective pronouns.      First of all, Fisher instills a feeling of guilt into his audience. He talks about how children in today's society barely know about gardening. He provides a strong point stating that, "if you have a young child, ask him or her where food comes from.      If a glass is filled halfway, is the glass half-full or half-empty? This is a commonly asked question to test a person's outlook. Although both choices are correct, each represents a different outlook. If they say it's half full then they are most likely a positive person.
