Main Characters

     There were once three children that lived with their mom. Their father had died in a war. He left a magic baseball for his children. This magic baseball grants wishes when people hold it. 

Plot

     The family was in debt. They needed money. In their home town, Louisville, baseball was very popular. In fact, Many games were played for money. The mom decided to play a baseball game for the money. So she created a baseball team called the Travellin nine. They trained hard and became the perfect team. Soon they competed in a baseball game. This game was very important. The family bet every little of what they had. If the travillin nine lost this game, then Elizabeth's family would go bankrupt. Once the game started, the travellin' nine met their new opponent. Unfortunately, the opponent team was very strong. In fact they were so good that they couldn't let travellin nine get a single point for half of the game. While the opponent had scored many points.

Solution

     The children never gave up no matter how bad things went. So they kept on cheering. Then an idea struck the children's head. The could win the game by using the magic baseball! They held the baseball together. The moment they did, magical things started to happen. The travellin nine started to do much better! Not only did they hit all the balls and catch all the balls, they even hit home runs!!! Eventually the game ended. The travellin nine won by barely one point! This was not only a big win, this game took care of Elizabeth's debts! There was a huge celebration, and everyone lived happily ever after.

   John A. Fisher is a concerned parent. He believes that garden education is vital to the future of children.  His article, "Growing the Kinder-Garden" argues that schools should teach garden education. In order to convince his audience, Fisher instills a feeling of guilt, appeals to logos, and uses collective pronouns.      First of all, Fisher instills a feeling of guilt into his audience. He talks about how children in today's society barely know about gardening. He provides a strong point stating that, "if you have a young child, ask him or her where food comes from. Don't be surprised if the answer you get is 'From the store!'" This shows that most children don't know where food truly comes from.      If a glass is filled halfway, is the glass half-full or half-empty? This is a commonly asked question to test a person's outlook. Although both choices are correct, each represents a different outlook. If they say it's half full then they are most likely a positive person.
