1. Legalism is the belief of setting strict laws to scare people from doing wrong. The Qin used Legalism to rule China.

2. Bureaucracy is a set of officials and system which is used run offices in countries. Rulers in the Han dynasty set up a bureaucracy to rule China.

3. Filial Piety is the belief that people should respect their parents. Filial Piety was a one of the important part of Confucianism.

4. Cultural diffusion was the process of mixing of cultures. The Silk Road spread culture which was called cultural diffusion.

5. The Huan He was a major river of Ancient China. It had a good source of water and silt making is a great place to farm. So many people settled there to farm for food. This developed and advanced Ancient China.

6. When the Shang dynasty wrote messages to Gods through oracle bones, they needed to communicate in some type of form. So they developed pictographs. They used this as their written language.

7. Legalist wanted to stop people from doing wrong. So they made harsh laws. Daoist wanted to discover their nature and live in harmony. The difference is that Legalist wanted to change people ways from wrong to good. While the Daoist didn't want to change anything. They just wanted peace.

8. The five human relations Confucius taught are the following:
    1. Father and son
    2. Elder brother and junior brother
    3. Husband and wife
    4. Friend and friend
    5. Ruler and subject

9. Shi Huangdi was a strict Legalist. He forced many laborers and criminals to build the great wall. Many people died from the harsh labor work. This caused great resentment among his people.

10. The Han setup a bureaucracy. This let officials run offices. Officials enforced the emperor's rules. This made ruling easier.

11. Some of the ideas that reached China through the silk road were: Buddhism, Central Asian military concepts, and western cultural styles.

12. Since China had a high population they needed lots of food. Agricultural improvements made farming easier. Thus China got the right amount of food.
